Children's Ministry

Calvary Chapel Kids We consider it an honor and privilege to serve the Lord by serving you and your children here at Calvary Chapel. Our heart is that your children know Jesus loves them completely and provides for their every need. Jesus saw the value in making children a priority when He said:

"Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it. And He took them up in His arms, laid hands on them, and blessed them." Mark 10:14-16.

We consider it of vast importance to invest spiritually in the children of today!

Classroom ActivitiesGod has commanded parents to be responsible for their children's growth and it is indeed the parents who will one day give an account for this task. However, we want to come alongside parents in the training of their children through children's worship, age-appropriate lessons, skits, object lessons and activities provided during each regular service.

Beyond the paint, crayons, songs, and Popsicle sticks, our goal is to make sure your children are brought to Jesus, given the opportunity to accept Him as their Lord and Savior, and be challenged to grow in His grace and understand His Word.

Children in Adult Services

Each Sunday we provide a quality Nursery for infants and toddlers up to age 2, and a fun and challenging Sunday School training program for ages 3 to 12. On Wednesdays, we provide the Calvary Kid's Club (CKC) for kindergarten to 5th grade and Nursery for those younger. We encourage parents to put their children in the Children's Ministry classes where they can best learn about Jesus in small groups with age-specific instruction that they can more readily understand and retain.

If you would like to bring your child into the adult service, you may do so but we kindly ask that you please accept these guidelines:

  • Mothers with infant children are encouraged to use the Nursing Mother's Room in the rear of the Sanctuary, accessed from the Foyer.
  • Preschool and elementary-aged children should sit with parents in the specially-marked "Family Section" at the side-rear of the Sanctuary.
  • Please be considerate of others and take your children out of the Sanctuary if they become noisy or fussy. Our desire is for everyone to be able to focus on the Lord and His Word. Therefore, please assist us in minimizing all distractions.

Child Safety

The security and safety of your children is a top priority to us. All volunteers in our Children's Ministry are fully screened with a complete national background check. They have all completed Children's Ministry training and are regularly observed by staff for spiritual accuracy, educational excellence and safety awareness. We also have several team leaders who are trained for emergency procedures, plus all of our teachers participate in our Emergency Evacuation plan.

Infant through 4th Grade Check-in/out Policy

Our child safety policy requires that a parent or guardian sign-in/out all children 4th grade and younger. The parent and child will have corresponding nametags with your child's name and ID number on the badge. The identity number is to enable our parent-paging system. If you as a parent are needed during the service, your child's ID number will appear on the media screen in front of the Sanctuary.

5th Grade Check-in/out Policy

5th graders need to be signed-in so we have an accurate count of children in case of an emergency. However, we do allow this grade level slightly more freedom when checking out unless otherwise requested by the parent.

Volunteers

Children's Ministry would not exist if not for the dedicated group of volunteers within our church body who are committed to the children and families they are serving. Those who are parents are especially encouraged to serve in Children's Ministry. The need is great for volunteers.Volunteers

Each Sunday School class has a classroom Teacher and an Assistant who serve every other week at one service (either 9 or 11 AM). Opportunities also exist to serve in our Wednesday night program and in the Nursery on Sundays and Wednesdays, as well as special events such as Maycation, Backyard Bible Club, Vacation Bible School, Christmas programs, etc. Volunteers are provided with all necessary training, curriculum, and supplies.

The qualifications for volunteering in Children's Ministry are:

  • Be a "born-again" believer in Jesus
  • Have a willing heart and desire to serve Jesus
  • Authorize and pass a full background check
  • Complete ETS (Equipped to Serve) Level 1 to be an Assistant
  • Complete ETS (Equipped to Serve) Level 2 to be a classroom Teacher
  • Complete Children's Ministry training for the area you'd like to serve
