Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry We consider it an honor and privilege to serve the Lord by serving you and your children here at Calvary Chapel. Our heart is that your children know Jesus loves them completely and provides for their every need. Jesus saw the value in making children a priority when He said:

"Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it. ?And He took them up in His arms, laid hands on them, and blessed them." Mark 10:14b-16.

How important it is to invest spiritually in the children of today!

?

God has commanded parents to be responsible for their children's growth and it is indeed the parent's who will one day give an account for this task. However, we want to come alongside parents in the training of their children through children's worship, age-appropriate lessons, skits, games, crafts, object lessons and activities provided during each regular service.

Beyond the paint, crayons, and Popsicle sticks, our goal is to make sure your children will be brought to Jesus, given the opportunity to accept Him as their Lord and Savior, and be challenged to grow in His grace.

Class Assignments

We provide a quality Nursery for infants and toddlers up to age 2, and a solid Children's Ministry for ages 3-12. We encourage parents to put their children in the Children's Ministry classes where they can best learn about Jesus in a unique, fun-filled environment that teaches them at a level that they can more easily understand.

If you must bring your child into the adult service, we ask that you please consider the following list of guidelines to minimize distractions during the teaching time:

  • Preschool and elementary-aged children should sit with parents in the reserved & marked "Family Section" at the side-rear of the Sanctuary.
  • Mothers with infant children are encouraged to use the Nursing Mother's Room in the rear of the Sanctuary, accessed from the Foyer.
  • Please be considerate of others and take your children out of the Sanctuary if they become noisy or fussy.

What About Safety?

The security and safety of your children is a top priority. Therefore, all volunteers in our Children's Ministry are fully screened with a complete national background check. We also have several team leaders who are trained for emergency procedures, plus all of our teachers participate in our Emergency Evacuation plan.

Preschool Check-in/out Policy

Our Policy requires that a parent or guardian sign-in/out all preschool children. The parent and child will have corresponding badges with your child's number on the badge.

1st-4th Grade Check-in/out Policy

Elementary-aged children have a similar procedure to that of Preschoolers. Your child needs to be signed-in/out, although only the parent will have a badge with the child's number on it. This is to assist us in our parent-paging system. If you as a parent are needed during the service, your child's number and last name will appear on the media screen in front of the Sanctuary.

5th Grade Check-in/out Policy

5th graders need to be signed-in so we have an accurate count of children in case of an emergency. However, we do allow this grade level slightly more freedom when checking out unless otherwise requested by the parent.

Volunteers

Children's Ministry would not exist if not for the dedicated group of volunteers within the body who are committed to the children they are serving.

Each class has a lead teacher and at least one assistant who serve every other week on a rotating basis for a 6-month period. Opportunities also exist to serve in our Wednesday evening program (also on a rotating basis). Teachers are provided with all necessary curriculum, supplies and resources.

Parents are encouraged to serve in Children's Ministry. Openings for teachers and helpers are often announced in the weekly bulletin and new volunteers are encouraged to sign up. The qualifications are:

  • Be a "born-again" believer
  • Have a willing heart and desire to serve Jesus
  • Complete all Equipped-to-Serve classes and assignments. Helpers are required to complete Level 1; teachers Level 2.
  • Authorize a background check.
  • For the Nursery, be at least age 15.
